Will Ferrell Back As Bush With Tina Fey’s Palin On Thursday’s “Saturday Night Live”

Huffington Post |   October 23, 2008 09:31 PM

Thursday’s “Saturday Night Live” election special welcomed Will Ferrell back playing President Bush in the opening sketch, with Ferrell’s Bush offering an unwanted endorsement for the McCain- Palin ticket. The sketch was cowritten by Adam McKay and also starred Tina Fey as Sarah Palin meeting Bush for the first time.

As Ferrell’s Bush puts it, the election is between “the hot lady and the Tiger Woods guy” and “I’m out of here in a few months, so screw it.” He has also declared the White House a “bummer-free zone.”

Transcript of Obama’s Speech: “Enough is Enough”

Sen. Barack Obama has just finished his political rally, exhorting a crowd of thousands in Downtown Indianapolis to vote Democratic and make Indiana a “blue state” for the first time since the 1964 presidential election.

The Democratic presidential nominee told the crowd his economic policies would protect the rights of working Americans while restoring balance and fairness to the tax code. He blasted the approach of his Republican rival, Sen. John McCain as amounting to “Wall Street first, Main Street last.”  continue

From

(CNN) – There is little good news for Sen. John McCain in the half dozen CNN state polls of polls released Thursday.

In five of the six states – Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, Nevada, and Florida – Obama has an advantage over McCain. In West Virginia, McCain is ahead but just by two points.

In the six states, Obama’s lead is greatest in Pennsylvania where he is ahead of McCain by ten points – 51 percent to 41 percent with eight percent of likely voters in the state unsure about their choice for president. In CNN’s previous Pennsylvania poll of polls released October 16, Obama had a lead of 13 points – 53 percent to 40 percent.

In Virginia, Obama is ahead by eight points in CNN’s latest poll of polls. Fifty-one percent of likely voters in Virginia support Obama and 43 percent support McCain. Six percent of the state’s voters are unsure. In CNN’s previous Virginia poll of polls released October 6, Obama’s advantage was four points – 49 percent versus 45 percent.

Obama leads in Ohio by 7 points in CNN’s latest poll of polls for the state. The Democratic nominee has the support of 50 percent of likely voters in the battleground state while 43 percent back McCain and seven percent are unsure. CNN’s October 20 Ohio poll of polls showed Obama ahead of McCain by three points – 48 percent compared to 45 percent.

In Nevada, Obama is ahead by four points. Forty-five percent of likely voters in the state support McCain while 49 percent support Obama. Six percent of likely voters in Nevada are unsure about their choice for president. In CNN’s previous Nevada poll of polls released October 13, Obama was also ahead by four points – 49 percent versus 45 percent.

Former Bush Press Secretary Backs Obama

By DAVID BAUDER | The Associated Press | Thursday, October 23, 2008; 6:01 PM

NEW YORK — Scott McClellan, President Bush’s former press secretary, says he is backing Barack Obama for president.

McClellan made the endorsement during a taping of Comedian D.L. Hughley’s new show that is premiering on CNN this weekend. The former Bush administration official said he wanted to support the candidate that has the best chance for changing the way Washington works and getting things done.

He’s the second former Bush administration figure this week to publicly back Obama, following former Secretary of State Colin Powell. McClellan caused bitterness among his former co-workers with a tell-all book that criticized Bush.

Mentally Unstable Soldiers Redeployed to Iraq

Stretched Thin, Army Puts Some Vulnerable Soldiers Back on the Frontlines

Two weeks before his second deployment to Iraq last September, Army Specialist Michael DeVlieger broke down.

“At first, I thought it was something that everybody experienced,” DeVlieger told ABC’s Bob Woodruff, “and just through time and perseverance I guess it would pass.” It didn’t pass.

After an 11-day hospitalization, DeVlieger was given a diagnosis of major depressive disorder, three psychiatric prescriptions — and deployment orders.

“Eighteen hours after he got out of the hospital, he deployed to Iraq,” DeVlieger’s wife, Christine DeVlieger, recalled. He left for Iraq despite Pentagon policy requiring that service members establish three months of “stability without significant symptoms” before deploying.

“I was a ticking time bomb,” Michael DeVlieger said.

Watch “World News” Tonight at 6:30 p.m. ET for the full report

Citing privacy, officials at DeVlieger’s base in Fort Campbell, Ky., declined to comment except to say there was a combat stress unit assigned to DeVlieger’s base in Iraq.

Someone Put On His Thinking Cap [Jonah Goldberg]

From a reader:

If the donations list is published we could always do a bunch of donations as William Ayers, Jeremiah Wright etc. and then publicize that Obama’s taking donations from these indidividuals.
The only way to avoid the connection is to admit that they allow anonymous donation which, if I understand correctly, is a violation of federal law.
I’d think an amusing ad could be put together from the already published donor list.  The tag line is that if Obama would let his contributors lie to give him money who else is lying to him?  That plays off the trust, experience and judgement angles all at the same time.

Update: Hey, enraged lefty blog minions emailing me with all this name-calling b.s.: A) Calm down, I was being sarcastic not serious. B) What are you people so furious about? That your candidate will continue to get more fraudulent donations? That conservatives will give money to your candidate? That all of this exposes how shoddy and irresponsible Obama’s operation is? Why the rage? Somehow I find it hard to believe that apologists for ACORN and Chicago politics are suddenly horrified by any chicanery with the integrity of the campaign finance system.

Note: Calling me  scumbag etc, is not an actual argument or explanation.

Well folks, while it’s true that we are in deep doodoo over the global financial crisis, there are folks on the street who have no where to go and no money for food. I doubt that they will be concerned about the stock market or the banks going under, as much as our representatives in the corporate government are, and the election of a new president is probably nothing but a humorless joke.

Jack the bear is making tracks and going nowhere, but won’t have any heating problems like the street folks. It’s all about being cool to him and finding a place to hang out for his winter siesta. One thing for sure, he’s pretty light on the planet and, out of necessity, there are many folks who are not far behind him.
