The Brad Blog- Blogged by John Gideon on 10/19/2008 2:04PM

This just in as Brad is headed over to the FOXNews studios. Yesterday the Los Angeles Times reported on the Republican voter registration outfit who had allegedly been illegally changing thousands of registrations from Democratic to Republican.

Last night the head of that GOP backed group, Mark Anthony Jacoby of Young Political Majors (YPM), was arrested by the California State Election Fraud Taskforce and Oxnard, CA Police.

According to CA SoS Debra Bowen’s press release, Jacoby himself had committed voter registration fraud and perjury by lying on his own voter registration form. (That’s similar to what Ann Coulter did, though she not only committed felony voter registration fraud, she also committed actual voter fraud, as well, even though such fraud is exceedingly rare.)

UPDATE FROM BRAD: It was my pleasure to break this story today on Fox “News” of all places! Thanks to John Gideon for getting it posted as I was on the roll towards the studio. I’ll have the video up of my appearance on Fox, and the “Fox News Alert” I was able to do, later tonight. Please note, this isn’t the first time there have been serious problems with GOP-gathered voter registrations in CA, as outlined recently at Alternet. Looks like the GOP’s voter registration record for errors far outpaced ACORN! Whaddaya know? (Our special coverage of the GOP’s ACORN “Voter Fraud” Hoax is right here.) More updates now at bottom of article.

Bowen’s press release, just out, on Jacoby’s arrest follows in full…

America Agrees With Johnny

It really isn’t very often that Americans can agree with what Johnny McKeating has to say these days, and the poll numbers back this up. But Johnny said something today that I believe that most Americans can agree with.

Barack Obama raised $150 million (£87 million) last month, shattering his previous monthly record of $67 million and allowing him to swamp the airwaves in the final stretch of his presidential race against John McCain.

The huge haul — by far the biggest in presidential history — came as Mr McCain gave a robust performance in a television interview, where he predicted a close finish but also said that he had pondered the thought of defeat to Mr Obama, an outcome he said that he could live with.

Mr McCain, speaking moments after his old friend Colin Powell, the former Republican Secretary of State, had endorsed Mr Obama, said that a loss would not devastate him. He said that he had thought about it, “but I don’t dwell on it”.

The Republican nominee continued: “I’ve had a wonderful life. I have to go back to Arizona and live … with a wonderful family, and daughters and sons that I’m so proud of. I’m the luckiest guy you have ever interviewed and will ever interview. I’m the most fortunate man on Earth, and I thank God for it every single day.”

Johnny, we can live with it too. We can definitely live without any more of your racism, your lying, your corporate whoring, your bad judgment, your warmongering, your cronyism, and last but not least, your running mate. We would be elated to see you live out the rest of your life in Arizona, a place you’ve barely set foot in since you moved there to take (and quit) that job your in-laws gave you that REMAINS the only time you’ve ever been outside of Government. Go back, look around, see if you can figure out what’ll make you happy there. If you can’t find it there, maybe you could spend a week or two at all 11 of your houses. I’m sure that one of them will be a place you can fall in love with. Hell, ask Caribou Barbie to show you her spread up on Wasewer Lake. If you can get past the smell of the lake (courtesy of your ditz running mate, who never heard of regulating businesses or environmental consciousness,) you might find Alaska the right place for a guy with sensitive skin to spend his time.

In any case, America would consider itself luckier than even you consider yourself, if we could just get you to go the hell away.

Obama: Honored And Humbled To Have Powell’s Endorsement

Obama Speaks Out on Powell Endorsement (Updated Re George Will on Race)

Huffington Post- Ari Melber

Posted October 19, 2008 | 01:54 PM (EST)

Barack Obama welcomed the endorsement of Colin Powell at a North Carolina rally on Sunday, linking the decorated veteran to soldiers serving today.

“With so many brave men and women from Fayetteville serving in our military, this is a city and a state that knows something about great soldiers,” he told the crowd, according to remarks released by the campaign. “And this morning, a great soldier, a great statesman, and a great American has endorsed our campaign to change America. I have been honored to have the benefit of his wisdom and counsel from time to time over the last few years, but today, I am beyond honored and deeply humbled to have the support of General Colin Powell,” said Obama.

Obama benefited from some of Powell’s wisdom on Sunday morning, when the two spoke for about ten minutes. Robert Gibbs, a senior aide to the senator, said Obama told Powell that “he looked forward to taking advantage of his advice in the next two weeks and hopefully over the next four years.”

McCain: Obama camp ‘savaged’ Joe the Plumber

Raw Story- Nick Cargo and David Edwards

Published: Sunday October 19, 2008

Senator McCain attempted to shift blame for media scrutiny of overnight celebrity “Joe the Plumber” at the feet of Senator Obama’s campaign Sunday morning.

“Of course ‘Joe the Plumber’ is the average citizen,” he told Fox News’ Chris Wallace, “and ‘Joe the Plumber’ is now speaking for millions of small businesspeople all over America, and they’re becoming aware that ‘we need to spread the wealth around’ is not what small businesspepole want.”

34-year-old Samuel “Joe” Wurzelbacher of Ohio was mentioned 21 times by McCain during the recent presidential debate when discussing the dueling hopefuls’ tax plans. Wurzelbacher had earlier told Obama during a walk down his street that he had planned to buy the company he had done plumbing work for, and he didn’t like the idea that his taxes would go up under the proposed tax plan.

“Where are we in America where a candidate for President comes to a person’s driveway, he asks him a question, doesn’t like the answer, and all of a sudden he’s savaged by the candidate’s people?”

Wallace made the suggestion that the media, not the Obama campaign, has “savaged” Wurzelbacher with probes into the man’s personal history. McCain stuck to the notion that the Obama campaign led the media scrutiny as retaliation for unsatisfactory answers received in the aforementioned driveway.

American War

Shot against the backdrop of the presidential campaign, Simon Schama travels through America to dig deep into the conflicts of its history to understand what is at stake right now.

Watch entire episode here.

In American War, Simon reveals how different the American attitude to war is from what outsiders assume it to be. Two of the founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton, disagreed about whether America should even have a professional army – a division still evident when Simon visits America’s premier military academy at West Point. From the Civil War right through to Mark Twain’s denunciation of President Teddy Roosevelt’s imperial adventure in the Phillipines, American wars have inspired profound debate. And nowhere more so in the 2008 election than San Antonio, Texas, nicknamed Military City because of its high population of veterans and serving soldiers, where Simon finds feelings about the war are deeply divided. As with the great war elections of the past, it’s a debate which forces America to dig deep and rediscover what it stands for.

Colin Powell Endorses Obama

Obama A “Transformational Figure,” Has “Displayed A Steadiness, Showed Intellectual Vigor”… McCain’s Negativity Has Been “Over The Top”

Colin Powell Endorses Obama

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell announced Sunday that he will be voting for Sen. Barack Obama. “He has both style and substance. I think he is a transformational figure,” Powell said on NBC’s Meet the Press.

“Obama displayed a steadiness. Showed intellectual vigor. He has a definitive way of doing business that will do us well,” Powell said.

Powell said he questioned Sen. John McCain’s judgment in picking Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate because he doesn’t think she is ready to be president.

He also said he was disappointed with some of McCain’s campaign tactics, such as bringing up Obama’s ties to former 1960s radical Bill Ayers.

Following the interview, Powell told reporters outside NBC’s Washington studio: “I think that Senator Obama brings a fresh set of eyes, fresh set of ideas to the table. I think that Senator McCain, as gifted as he is, is essentially going to execute the Republican agenda, the orthodoxy of the Republican agenda with a new face and a maverick approach to it, and he’d be quite good at it, but i think we need more than that.”

Naomi Wolf On Today Show Oct 17,2008

The most amazing thing is she got an interview. If you notice, the NorthCom statement is a lie of omission.

Interview – Naomi Wolf – Give Me Liberty

Interview with Naomi Wolf author of “Give Me Liberty: A Handbook for American Revolutionaries” given October 4, 2008 on Mind Over Matters, KEXP 90.3 FM Seattle.

Dear Conservatives, Will You Help Save the Republic from Military Takeover?

By Naomi Wolf, AlterNet. Posted October 18, 2008.

I hope to persuade you of the profound moral repugnance a true conservative should feel for the plans that are afoot in this nation.”

Dear Conservative America:

I am reaching out with a warning to you that is as heartfelt as the one I have been bringing my fellow citizens for months. But you are the most important audience of all for this, because you hold the key to whether or not we can save our republic in time.

I have been arguing that we are seeing the classic building blocks being laid for a police state: My thesis in The End of America: A Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot is that we are seeing the classic 10 steps being set in place that always underlie a violent police state. My argument in its sequel, Give Me Liberty, is that we must rise up as tactically and effectively as patriots to stop this suppression of freedom.

I hope to persuade you of the profound moral repugnance a true conservative should feel for the plans that are afoot in this nation.

What is the newest news? The Army Times declared that “beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the (1st Brigade Combat Team of the 3rd Infantry Division) will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North” … “the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities.”

They are tasked to help with “civil unrest and crowd control or to deal with potentially horrific scenarios such as massive poisoning and chaos in response to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield explosive, or CBRNE, attack …”

What this means is that U.S. citizens can now be “controlled” by the military on our streets through technologies — such as Tasers and rubber bullets — that terrify and torment and stun but do not usually kill citizens the way that citizens in Iraq are terrified, tormented and stunned by U.S. military forces.
