Babygate or Child Endangerment? Sarah Palin’s Bizarre Pregnancy

Politicususa- Posted on February 10, 2011 by Sarah Jones

Ok, so I’m going to go there. Yes, that’s right. I’m heading into Sarah Palin babygate territory. Yes, I ignored the Todd Palin hooker story, because frankly Todd Palin’s sexual issues aren’t of any interest to me. Sure, it could be made political for a variety of legitimate reasons (family values, he ran the show in Alaska, Christian values, etc) but as a woman, I just don’t think it’s applicable to Sarah Palin as a political candidate.

But there’s one issue that is applicable to Palin as a politician and a Christian leader, and that is her relationship with her feti. Long before Palin was chosen by McCain in 2008, rumors were swirling around Alaska about her fifth pregnancy. A lot of people questioned her claims because she didn’t appear pregnant and because she had kept it secret for a long time. For me, the issue always came down to her “wild ride” – the plane ride she claims to have taken home from a speaking engagement in Texas after leaking amniotic fluid before her speech.

I just don’t know any woman who would take a ten hour plane ride involving a layover from Texas to Alaska hours after they had already broken water, especially not while carrying an at risk baby who was premature. No matter how many times I looked into this story, there was never a satisfactory answer from Palin. She claims she was in labor, then not in labor just broke water. She claims she wasn’t in pain. People who saw her had no idea she was pregnant. But she gave birth hours after landing.

Internal Emails Show Robust Role For ‘Shadow Governor’ Todd Palin

TPM Muckraker

Justin Elliott | February 5, 2010, 10:40AM

A nice get from MSNBC.com: a huge batch of internal e-mails released in response to an Alaska open records request show that Todd Palin played a big role in his wife’s administration, often corresponding directly with the governor’s staff on matters ranging from appointments to contract negotiations.

Todd Palin was known as the “shadow governor” and was a key figure in the Troopergate scandal that dogged Sarah Palin during the 2008 campaign. In recent months, there’s evidence that he is still his wife’s most important protector: he personally drew up the now-famous “banned list” barring unfriendly media from a Palin book event in Wasilla.

The new e-mails range from the mundane (Todd repeatedly trying to get a photo of him in a t-shirt removed from the National Governors Association Web site) to the intriguing (one e-mail that was withheld bears the subject line, “media questions about Todd Palin’s work and potential conflict of interests”). MSNBC.com has many more details.

MSNBC has posted a searchable database of the new e-mails here. Let us know in the comments if you see anything of interest.

Todd Palin & Co. in Contempt of Senate?
PRICELESS!

Last July 14, Alaskan lawmakers unanimously voted to investigate the abuse of power allegations against Governor Sarah Palin. At the time, the Governor welcomed the chance to clear the air and had directed her staff to cooperate with the investigations.

On August 29, 2008 everything changed. Sarah Palin was picked to be John McCain’s running mate. Formerly cooperative witnesses now had to be subpoenaed. They ignored their subpoenas. Was there witness tampering? What was Alaska Attorney General Talis Colberg’s role?

At 10:09am on February 6, 2009, Senate Resolution #5 passed 16-1. This resolution finds the witnesses who ignored their subpoenas GUILTY OF CONTEMPT of the Alaska State Senate.

More Palin family trouble: Levi’s mom’s been arrested

WASILLA, Alaska — A 42-year-old Wasilla woman was arrested Thursday at her home by Alaska State Troopers with a search warrant in an undercover drug investigation. Sherry L. Johnston was charged with six felony counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance.

Johnston is the mother of Levi Johnston, the Wasilla 18-year-old who received international attention in September when Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, announced their teenage daughter was pregnant and he was the father. Bristol Palin, 18, is due on Saturday, according to a recent interview with the governor’s father, Chuck Heath.

Troopers served the warrant at Johnston’s home at the “conclusion of an undercover narcotics investigation,” said a statement issued Thursday by the troopers as part of the normal daily summary of activity around the state.

Troopers charged Johnston with second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance — generally manufacturing or delivering drugs — as well as fourth-degree misconduct involving controlled substances, or possession.
