Glenn Beck Regrets Calling Obama Racist: ‘I Have A Big, Fat Mouth’ (VIDEO)

Huff Post- First Posted: 08-30-10 12:30 AM   |   Updated: 08-30-10 12:33 AM

Speaking on “Fox News Sunday” with Chris Wallace, Glenn Beck gave his first interview after Saturday’s Restoring Honor rally in Washington, DC. While much of the conversation focused on the rally and religion, there were some answers that are bound to drive more water-cooler conversation on Monday.

Starting at the 10:40 mark in the interview, Wallace asked Beck if his claim that Obama is a racist destroyed Beck’s credibility in talking about “reclaiming the civil rights movement.”

Toward the end of a lengthy response, Beck said that he “miscast” Obama’s liberation theology as racism. Then things got more interesting. Vote on a selection of Becks’ comments and watch the full 25-minute interview below.

Wallace: “Do you regret having called [Obama] a racist and saying he had a deep seated hatred for white people?”

Beck: “Of course I do. I don’t want to retract the, um … I want to amend that I think it is much more of a theological question, that he is a guy who understands the world through liberation theology, which is oppressor-and-victim. ‘Racist,’ first of all, it shouldn’t have been said. It was poorly said. I have a big fat mouth sometimes and I say things. That’s just not the way people should behave. And it was not accurate. It is liberation theology that has shaped his world view.”

Glenn Beck says Obama might find a ‘gay handicapped black woman who’s an immigrant’ as well as a ‘radical’ for the Supreme Court

Crooks and Liars- By John Amato Monday Apr 12, 2010 7:00am

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Glenn Beck starts the smearathon of President’s possible Supreme Court nominees with his usual racist-homophobic-Bircher philosophy. Righties try to preempt their smears by saying that if they comment on race, gender or the ethnicity of a candidate—they will be the ones who are smeared.

Riiiight.

Replacing a liberal judge with a liberal judge is too much for right-wing ideologues, who constantly bitch and complain about “activist” judges and insist that Obama must pick a centrist (whatever a centrist is) or he hates America.

Beck really should be outraged at the Citizens United activist ruling by the Roberts court, if he was being honest about the “activist judges” thing, because that overturned decades of settled law on how big business was regulated in what they can spend in politics, or so I’ve been told. Though the California Chamber of Commerce pulled their smear attack ad of Jerry Brown because some of their members objected to it (and didn’t even know they had made it), nonetheless, this ad is one of the previews of what will happen as we move forward with elections because of that ruling.

Not good.

HONOLULU CITY COUNCILMAN ROD TAM SMELLS –SOMETHING AWFUL!!!

BUT HE’S TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM

Is He Promising Not To Ride Da Bus?

This is the guy who used the term “wetbacks” in a public meeting not too long ago. His new racist offensive is targeted at foreigners whose hygiene standards may be different, or at the poor whose access to bathrooms is limited –In part by lax planning, zoning, building and housing codes and a lack of affordable housing and public facilities. Tam’s our Zoning Committee Chairman, by the way, so he’s responsible for a lot of that. But it’s so much easier to target the disenfranchised and humiliate & punish them than it is to offer real solutions that are already available elsewhere and to people with money right here in Honolulu.

The fact that Tam has already established himself as a race-warrior with his attacks on “wetbacks” makes this new measure smell pretty bad in itself. The homeless population and immigration from global-warming and economic depression victims throughout the Asia-Pacific region keep growing, putting some less recent immigrants’ and forgetful long-time Locals’ noses out of joint, “Aloha” be damned. Da Bus is one of the few places where the old and the new, the poor and the middle classes come into contact. Maybe now is the time those living in comfort paid attention to the problems of the system that has benefited them so much more than others.
