WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange rails against Facebook, says it’s a spy tool for US government

NY Daily News May 2nd 2011

DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Maybe he’s a MySpace guy.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange called Facebook “the most appalling spying machine ever invented” in an interview with Russia Today, pointing to the popular social networking site as one of the top tools for the U.S. to spy on its citizens.

“Here we have the world’s most comprehensive database about people, their relationships, their names, their addresses, their locations, their communications with each other and their relatives, all sitting within the United States, all accessible to US Intelligence,” he said. “Facebook, Google, Yahoo, all these major U.S. organizations have built-in infaces for US intelligence.

“Everyone should understand that when they add their friends to Facebook they are doing free work for the United States intelligence agencies,” he added.

Hmm, does this look like a non news item? Well, it is for the main stream media. Take a look at this google search for…. Ray McGovern dragged out of Hillary Clinton “Freedom Speech”

Here’s an excellent post on this from BradBlog

Ray McGovern, Former Sr. CIA Analyst, ‘Bruised, Bloodied’ While Dragged From Room During Hillary Clinton Speech on ‘Freedom of Expression’
We’ve interviewed former senior CIA analyst Ray McGovern, on the air and off, many times over the years. We’ve come to consider him not just a source, but a friend and a national hero for his tirelessly non-partisan fight for truth and justice.

The man who once briefed Presidents directly, from Ronald Reagan to Bill Clinton, had long ago earned our great respect — from his courageousness in famously confronting then-SecDef Don Rumsfeld in 2006 about lying about Saddam and WMD (watch the classic confrontation on video here) to his calling out CNN on air for their abysmal failures in accurately reporting on WikiLeaks (video here) last December to his arrest weeks later at the White House with other vets and national heroes for “refusal to obey a lawful order” while protesting against the Obama Administration’s wars around the world — all while overcoming some enormous personal health issues at the same time.

Beck warns against searching his conspiracy theories on Google

by Jed Lewison for Daily Kos

Wed Feb 16, 2011 at 05:00 PM EST

Okay, Glenn Beck has completely lost it. Now he’s warning his audience against looking up his conspiracy theories on Google…because Google might be a part of the conspiracy:

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Who are they? Are they right? Are they left? Are they clean? Are they dirty? Are they front groups? I don’t know. May I recommend if you’re doing your own homework, don’t do a Google search. It seems to me that Google is pretty deeply in bed with the government. Remember, maybe this is explaining why Google is being kicked out of all the other countries. Are they just a shill now for the United States government? Who is Jared Cohen? Is he a private citizen or government operative? And isn’t this the second Google guy we’ve found? This is the second Google executive now being exposed as an instigator of a revolution.

Well, isn’t that a convenient explanation for why Google always seems to debunk the nonsense spewing out of Glenn Beck’s mouth.

Of course, less than two weeks earlier, he was thanking his audience for using Google to look up his Egypt conspiracy theory:

Vodpod videos no longer available.

I said, “please look this up.” I said, “pause the show, and look up the word ‘caliphate.'”  … Let me show you the Google trend report from the day of that episode. Here’s the chart, caliphate — oh, by the way, we’re on it at 2:00 p.m. West. Caliphate went to number one at Google trends. You see the spike? That’s when this program is on. So, let me, first, humbly thank you for not taking my word on it, humbly thank you for not sitting there as a mindless stooge. When I ask you to do your homework, you do. Thank you. If you did, you know caliphate is not some crazy conspiracy.

So, who is Glenn Beck? Batshit insane Fox host, or government operative? Glenn doesn’t know. Maybe we should Google it. Or maybe not.

Google-Verizon Deal: The End of The Internet as We Know It

Huff Post-  Josh Silver – President, Free Press

Posted: August 5, 2010 09:26 AM

For years, Internet advocates have warned of the doomsday scenario that will play out on Monday: Google and Verizon will announce a deal that the New York Times reports “could allow Verizon to speed some online content to Internet users more quickly if the content’s creators are willing to pay for the privilege.”

The deal marks the beginning of the end of the Internet as you know it. Since its beginnings, the Net was a level playing field that allowed all content to move at the same speed, whether it’s ABC News or your uncle’s video blog. That’s all about to change, and the result couldn’t be more bleak for the future of the Internet, for television, radio and independent voices.

How did this happen? We have a Federal Communications Commission that has been denied authority by the courts to police the activities of Internet service providers like Verizon and Comcast. All because of a bad decision by the Bush-era FCC. We have a pro-industry FCC Chairman who is terrified of making a decision, conducting back room dealmaking, and willing to sit on his hands rather than reassert his agency’s authority. We have a president who promised to “take a back seat to no one on Net Neutrality” yet remains silent. We have a congress that is nearly completely captured by industry. Yes, more than half of the US congress will do pretty much whatever the phone and cable companies ask them to. Add the clout of Google, and you have near-complete control of Capitol Hill.

A non-neutral Internet means that companies like AT&T, Comcast, Verizon and Google can turn the Net into cable TV and pick winners and losers online. A problem just for Internet geeks? You wish. All video, radio, phone and other services will soon be delivered through an Internet connection. Ending Net Neutrality would end the revolutionary potential that any website can act as a television or radio network. It would spell the end of our opportunity to wrest access and distribution of media content away from the handful of massive media corporations that currently control the television and radio dial.

So the Google-Verizon deal can be summed up as this: “FCC, you have no authority over us and you’re not going to do anything about it. Congress, we own you, and we’ll get whatever legislation we want. And American people, you can’t stop us.
