on Jun 18th, 2008 at 8:40 pmAt today’s House Judiciary Subcommittee on Civil Rights hearing on torture, Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of staff to Colin Powell, told Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) that over 100 detainees have died in U.S. custody, with up to 27 of these declared homicides:
NADLER: Your testimony said 100 detainees have died in detention; do you believe the 25 of those were in effect murdered?
WILKERSON: Mr. Chairman, I think the number’s actually higher than that now. Last time I checked it was 108.
A February 2006 Human Rights First report found that although hundreds of people in U.S. custody had died and eight people were tortured to death, only 12 deaths had “resulted in punishment of any kind for any U.S. official.”
Transcript:
NADLER: Colonel Wilkerson, in your prepared testimony, you write that “as I compiled my dossier for Secretary Powell, and as I did further research, and as my views grew firmer and firmer I had to reread that memo (of February 7, 2002), “I needed to balance in my own mind the overwhelming evidence that my own government had sanctioned abuse and torture, which at its worse had led to the murder of 25 detainees and at least 100 detainee deaths. We have murder at least 25 people in detention. That was the clear low point [lower end of the range] of the evidence.” Your testimony said 100 detainees have died in detention; do you believe the 25 of those were in effect murdered?
WILKERSON: Mr. Chairman, I think the number’s actually higher than that now. Last time I checked it was 108, and the total number that were declared homicides by the military services, or by the CIA, or others doing investigations, CID, and so forth — was 25, 26, 27.
NADLER: Were declared homicides?
WILKERSON: Right, starting as early as December 2001 in Afghanistan.
NADLER: And these were homicides committed by people engaged in interrogations?
WILKERSON: Or in guarding prisoners, or something like that. People who were in detention.
NADLER: They were in detention, not trying to escape or anything, declared homicides by our own authorities.
Knock, knock, knocking on Hauge’s Door…
War Crimes Trials…
Insanity people. And nobody wanted to pay any attention to 3000 murdered by the US govt by 9-11 – and now nobody wants to pay attention as we scream “IT’S THE JESUITS STUPID!!”
I have no faith that Americans will heed the warnings – the snake is in our midst and we are too fractured and addled to do anything about it. Bye-bye America, so long.
It was zionists behind these atrocities, not Jesuits.
NOT the Jesuits, not the Jews … the Masons! No, wait, I think it was the Knights Templar … but I concede it could have been the Illuminati (but aren’t they the Masons?) The Russian mafia? The Triad? The military-industrial complex? The Bruderbund?
Point being, to quote Mick Jagger:
“I shouted out, who killed the Kennedys?
When after all … it was you and me.”
You and me, we allow this to happen. So shut up and go back to your television show.
Powell was involved with the cover up massacre at Mai Lai in Vietnam. Powell knew that lies were told to get America involved in a war for oil. I feel sick have these sell out scum-bags getting away with murder for their corporate bosses! I lay the charge of treason against everyone of the Neo-Cons and most of the senate (both sides). Mainstream media and central banking are also guilty of crimes against the human race.
Nazi guards are still being chased and prosecuted; those who are thinking of taking a job with this criminal administration, should think about it again-long and hard.
I didn’t kill the Kennedys. I’m not an assessory after the fact, either. I’m sorry to tell you this comrade, but there’s no such thing as a “social contract” and no one is born with orignal sin. When you go “postal,” Comrade, don’t aim at me. I’m not guilty of the Jesuits’ sins, only my own.
A Big Welcome to Rense and David Icke readers!
I am glad Rense and David Icke have chosen to pick up this story and give it more exposure. I hope this story continues to grow! 🙂
I listened carefully. When it came to implications of “where the permission came from to torture” and the question and answer period between Wilkerson
and Conyers………my you tube version of the entire 6 minute conversation was doubled over, could not understand it,
and seemed intentionally so to have enough flaws; making the talk inconlusive and unintelligible to the outcome of testimony for the hearer.
That’s me.”
Was this done by the media filming it?
Or did someone mess with you tube to obscure us from hearing the incriminating truths to who the parties actually were that instigated the use of torture to detainees by the U.S. of America.????
Hi Anne,
Good question and I wish I knew the answer to that…
actually, anything found on youtube showing the truth with our government, has either been erased, or fuzzed up jus like she claimed, so we do not find the truth. such a shame how far this world has came since i was a kid.
Well it is absolutely clear to the world , either Americans will condemn, put on trial the
war criminals. Or America and Americans will ultimately be responsible for the war crimes and viewed as responsible for them.
America an either move ahead or be left in the gutter .
Absolutely disgusting, completely unacceptable behavior. I am ashamed to be a citizen of a country that allows or perhaps even encourages atrocities such as torture and torture to death.
And why were the detainees being tortured? Over 911?
Most of them were probably innocent. Maybe all of them were innocent, meanwhile the real guilty ones go free.

This is a good time for this information to be hitting the mainstream. Calls for Impeachment are coming in thick and fast, and the lice are beginning to come out of the woodwork to expose past “indiscretions”. As we get closer to the tipping point, the impetus will grow, the rats will jump ship.
Maybe, just maybe there is a chance to nail scum like Cheney and Rumsfeld to the wall. I live in hope.
Hi Antireptilian,
I hope this information gets very lonnnggg legs and the MSM wakes up & tells this story for what it is… war crimes…
Btw.. welcome to the blog and I hope to see you again soon! 😉
