Hagel on Bush & Cheney: “They Have Failed the Country”
The Nation — It is too bad that Chuck Hagel decided against running for the Republican nomination for president. While it is true that Texas Congressman Ron Paul is saying much of what the Republican senator from Nebraska would have said about the madness of the war in Iraq, Paul is actually too polite about the madness of the president and the vice president.
Hagel minces no words.
In an address to the Council on Foreign Relations this week, Hagel told the crowd of foreign-policy wonks that he would give the Bush-Cheney administration “the lowest grade of any I’ve known.”
“I have to say this is one of the most arrogant, incompetent administrations I’ve ever seen or ever read about,” said Hagel, according to a report on the meeting that appeared in the Washington Post.
Speaking of Bush, Cheney and those around them, Hagel said: “They have failed the country.”
There is much talk about the prospect that Paul might exit the GOP to mount an independent or Libertarian Party bid for the presidency in 2008. But Hagel’s willingness to express his fierce disdain for Bush and Cheney in the bluntest of terms offers a reminder that an outsider bid by the Nebraska senator — either at the top of an independent or Unity Party ticket, or running alongside New York Mayor Mike Bloomfield, with whom Hagel again met this week — remains the more intriguing possibility.
Worst President and Vice President Ever…
IMPEACH!!
lol, you don’t say? The funny thing is, most of us have been saying this for about 7 years now.
Three dates in recent history have made me the cynical conspiracy theorist I am:
1. December 2000 when the Florida recount was stopped.
2. September 11, 2001
3. November 2006, which should’ve been joyous, but as I swallowed the bitter pill of Nancy Pelosi’s statement, “impeachment is off the table” and the subsequent refunding of the Iraq War For Resources during this past year, I have lost whatever faith I had in this political system and recognise it for the sham it is.
To believe that your vote still counts and somebody will save the republic is folly. Your hopes will only be dashed.
If I offend anyone because of my attitude, I apologise.
I agree dad 2059.I’m a conspiracy theorist as well. There are so many things the the Bush’s have screwed up.Ha ha.I can’t count that high.I saw an interview dating back to 1992 when George Bush Sr. said “If the American people knew what we Bush’s have done to this country,we would’ve been mauled”.
Oh.I forgot to mention. Please add me at http://www.myspace.com/johnfazio it’s the only time you’d be able to get in touch with me since I’m rarely on these blogs.
