BREAKING: A Whole New Level Of Horror

by- Suzie-Q @ 8:21 PM MST

“This war is so fucking illegal.” (Patrick Tillman)

From the AP:

SAN FRANCISCO –

Army medical examiners were suspicious about the close proximity of the three bullet holes in Pat Tillman’s forehead and tried without success to get authorities to investigate whether the former NFL player’s death amounted to a crime, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.

“The medical evidence did not match up with the, with the scenario as described,” a doctor who examined Tillman’s body after he was killed on the battlefield in Afghanistan in 2004 told investigators.

The doctors – whose names were blacked out – said that the bullet holes were so close together that it appeared the Army Ranger was cut down by an M-16 fired from a mere 10 yards or so away.

In other words, Pat Tillman was most likely murdered in the field. In cold blood. By other US soldiers.

This must be what the Bush Administration was trying so desperately to hide behind their all purpose “Executive Privilege” shield.

Texas ToastPress Conference

Senate Press Conference Calling For Gonzales Special Prosecutor

By: Nicole Belle on Thursday, July 26th, 2007 at 11:15 AM – PDT

“The Attorney General took an oath to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Instead he tells the half-truth, the partial truth and everything but the truth. And he does it not once, not twice, but over and over and over again. His instinct is not to tell the truth but to dissemble and deceive.”

UPDATE: In addition to the letter to Paul Clement, Solicitor General requesting a Special Prosecutor from outside the Justice Department, the plan includes subpoenaing Karl Rove as well. Let’s see how well that plays in the White House. Will they ignore a Special Prosecutor’s subpoena too? see link

UPDATE #2: Joining the dogpile, FBI Director Robert Mueller contradicts Gonzales’ testimony. see link

BREAKING: FBI Director Mueller Says Gonzales Lied

by- Suzie-Q @ 2:54 PM MST

It may be time to start heating up that Texas toast. Here’s the Associated Press report:

FBI Director Robert S. Mueller said Thursday the government’s terrorist surveillance program was the topic of a 2004 hospital room dispute between top Bush administration officials, contradicting Attorney General Alberto Gonzales’ sworn Senate testimony.

Mueller was not in the hospital room at the time of the dramatic March 10, 2004, confrontation between then-Attorney General John Ashcroft and presidential advisers Andy Card and Gonzales, who was then serving as White House counsel. Mueller told the House Judiciary Committee he arrived shortly after they left, and spoke with the ailing Ashcroft.

“Did you have an understanding that that the conversation was on TSP?” asked Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas. TSP stands for terrorist surveillance program.

I had an understanding the discussion was on a NSA program, yes,” Mueller answered.

Jackson asked again: “We use ‘TSP,’ we use ‘warrantless wiretapping,’ so would I be comfortable in saying that those were the items that were part of the discussion?”

The discussion was on a national NSA program that has been much discussed, yes,” Mueller responded.

TPMtv: The New Al Qaeda Bamboozle

The Bush administration has really been pushing the Al Qaeda in Iraq line recently, constantly citing 9/11 in reference to the enemy that we face in Iraq, an enemy that essentially all military and intelligence experts agree is far more complicated and heterogenous a force than simply Al Qaeda. Will the media start drawing the distinction?

“In my line of work you gotta keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kinda catapult the propaganda.” Dubya, May 24, 2005

Delay: US And Israel Must Enjoy Second Coming

by- Suzie-Q @ 1:18 PM MST

After attending the College Republican convention, Nation journalist Max Blumenthal took his camera to the Christians United for Israel’s annual Washington-Israel Summit in D.C. Founded by right-wing mega-church pastor John Hagee, the group has “added the grassroots muscle of the Christian right to the already potent Israel lobby,” “forging close ties with the Bush White House and members of Congress.”

That evangelical support for Israel is largely based on “End Times” theology is largely irrelevant to the Israeli politicians who share the goal of expanding settlements into the West Bank and a military strike on Iran, but it is anything but irrelevant to the rank-and-file members and even one former House Majority Leader.

Blumenthal opens the video by interviewing Tom Delay, who when asked how much the “Second Coming” plays into his support for Israel, says, “obviously, it’s what I live for, I hope it comes tomorrow.”

Delay closed by saying, “we have to be connected to Israel to enjoy the second coming.”

Bush Grandfather Part Of Plan For US Coup

by- Suzie-Q @ 12:08 PM MST

Document uncovers details of a planned coup in the USA in 1933 by a group of right-wing American businessmen

The coup was aimed at toppling President Franklin D Roosevelt with the help of half-a-million war veterans. The plotters, who were alleged to involve some of the most famous families in America, (owners of Heinz, Birds Eye, Goodtea, Maxwell Hse & George Bush’s Grandfather, Prescott) believed that their country should adopt the policies of Hitler and Mussolini to beat the great depression.

Dow Jones in Free Fall!

Huffington Post

In 2004, I looked around and saw lots and lots of people caught in the Housing Bubble. These people were purchasing homes with nothing down, way overpriced, bidding on LOTS in the desert with NO guarantee of water. They obtained mortgages with ZERO principal payment (how insane is THAT???). Then the bubble burst.

All those subprime mortgages down the drain – WHAT were THEY thinking? This once again goes back to people simply buying whatever they can, even if they can’t afford it!

Sad – but many got caught up in housing fever, and now the bubble has burst.

BAM BAM!! Senate Judiciary Chairman To Subpoena Rove

by- Suzie-Q @ 9:45 AM MST

THE LAST DANCE?

Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy announced Thursday he had subpoenaed White House adviser Karl Rove in a widening probe into the firing of federal prosecutors.

“We have now reached a point where the accumulated evidence shows that political considerations factored into the unprecedented firing of at least nine United States Attorneys last year,” Leahy said, according to The Associated Press.

PROBING GONZO!

Four Senate Democrats called on the Justice Department’s Solicitor General to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate whether or not Attorney General Alberto Gonzales committed perjury in Congressional testimony on the Bush administration’s domestic spying program.Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) harshly criticized the Attorney General in the Thursday Capitol Hill press conference.

“His inability to answer simple and straight forward questions was just stunning,” Schumer said. “His instinct is not to tell the truth, but to dissemble and deceive.”

Schumer laid out the case that the Senator had perjured himself, pointing to differences between a number of statements made by Gonzales regarding a series of March 2004 meetings over the Bush administration’s warrantless wiretapping program. He pointed especially to Gonzales’ insistence that a meeting with top Congressional leaders did not concern the Terrorist Surveillance Program, which the Bush administration has publicly acknowledged.

The Crash Of 1929: Are We On The Verge Of A Repeat?

by- Suzie-Q @ 8:10 AM MST

Hedge funds have helped create a counterfeit economy that some experts say could lead to another full-blown economic depression.

[A senior adviser to President Bush] said that guys like me were ”in what we call the reality-based community,” which he defined as people who ”believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.” I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ”That’s not the way the world really works anymore,” he continued. ”We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors … and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.” — Ron Suskind, “Without a Doubt,” New York Times

The hypermarket beckons

News flash: The American economy is a hyperreality engineered by Ph.D.s working hand-in-hand with colluding media multinationals, political officials and some of the biggest names in business — and the banks that invest in them. In other news, greed is still good.

Of course, the idea that Wall Street is corrupt is as old as Wall Street itself. After all, the immortal “Greed is good” aphorism was muttered by a white-collar criminal in the 1987 movie named after Wall Street, which was directed by a guy, Oliver Stone, who made his name in postmodern cinema and political agitation. In fact, a film of the same name came out in 1929, the year of the stock market crash. And so the narrative replicates.

Speaking of replicants, Oliver Stone is a man who tackled not only labyrinthine presidential conspiracies in the 1991 film JFK but also the numb pathos of 9/11 in last year’s World Trade Center. Indeed, Wall Street indirectly tackled the junk bond and insider trading economic screw-jobs that riddled the ’80s like so many overpriced, overly puffy hairdos. Stone envisioned the film as Crime and Punishment on Wall Street, which was only partially fitting for the time because there was a ton of crime and very little punishment.
