U.S. Justice is now Impotent!

by GEF @ 4:33 PM EDT

The clemency given to Scooter Libby in the CIA-Plame trial by President G.W. Bush has set the stage for a wide perception by the American people that our Justice system is broken and can no longer enforce even the semblance of equal justice because it’s clear that there are those beyond it’s reach.

We The People have seen first hand that only the elite rich who wield power in this Nation can have access to an alternate form of justice that we can never have access to. Even with all our laws and statutes we are no longer a Nation of equality under Law and Order. But under control of the Elite and Powerful who can create, bend or nullify our laws at will just like the Constitution was nullified by the Patriot Act.

G.W. Bush has rendered the Judiciary Branch of Government like he has the Congress and America itself.

Libby Judge “Perplexed” by Clemency

By Richard B. Schmitt
The Los Angeles Times
Friday 13 July 2007

His 30-month sentence was appropriate for the former Cheney aide, he writes in his first public comments on the issue.

Washington – In an unusual expression of frustration, the judge who sentenced former White House aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby to 30 months in jail, only to see the sentence commuted by President Bush, said he was “perplexed” by the act of clemency.

In his first public comments on the matter, U.S. District Judge Reggie B. Walton took issue with Bush’s statement that the prison sentence ordered for Libby last month was “excessive.” Walton defended the sentence, saying that he followed established legal precedents as well as a strict interpretation of federal sentencing guidelines that has been supported by Bush’s own administration.

“In light of these considerations … it is fair to say that the court is somewhat perplexed as to how its sentence could accurately be characterized as ‘excessive,’ ” Walton wrote.

The Schmooze Award

by- Suzie-Q @ 1:18 PM MST

I have been tagged by Larry from the Let’s Talk blog for The Schmooze Award. Thank you very much Larry! 🙂

According to Larry’s post, Schmoozing is the natural ability “to converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection.” Good schmoozers effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They don’t limit their visits to only the rich and successful, but spend some time to say hello to new blogs as well.

Here are my 5 recipients of the Power of Schmooze Award:

1. TomCat’s Politics Plus blog is one which I visit on a daily basis and always find something new and interesting. However, sometimes I think TomCat is hiding in my closet because we may have similar ideas of what is newsworthy today! He has a great sense of humor too! 😉

2. Left Of Centrist is another favorite blog on my regular visits. Robert does a ‘Blog World Report’ which I really enjoy reading. Like he said on his report today, “It’s Sunday and there aren’t usually a lot of things out there – but if it’s there, I will find it!” ~Kudos to Robert!~

3. Two of my favorite bloggers in the blogosphere, NYTexan and Boss Kitty have a wonderful blog, BlueBloggin Reality In Progress and these two are always on top of what is happening in the world! I always look forward to visits to their blog and their comments that they leave on the Suzie-Q blog! 🙂

4. Sumo at the Sumo blog has a great variety of topics and sure to please with interesting articles and photos. However, I must confess, I always get stuck there reading the recipes and looking at the “too die for” photos of cheesecake! 😉

5. And, last but not least, I want to mention a fantastic blog with great people! The Les Enragés blog, also known as ‘The Unruly Mob’. They have a team of folks who write incredible articles. You will recognize some of them as being bloggers on the Suzie-Q blog and I hope to see the others here soon! 😉

Now these Schmooze-tastic bloggers have to pass the award along to five more people that have shown their ability to enter into the huge online conversation that is the “blogosphere”. 🙂

Bush remains defiant as Congress votes to pull out troops

15 July 2007 By Alex Massie in Washington DC

The end game in Iraq has begun. It is now a matter of when the US troop presence in Iraq is reduced, not whether this will happen.

Congressional frustration at the lack of progress, Republican fears that the war will cripple the party’s chances in next year’s elections and a disillusioned public have combined to force President George W Bush onto the back foot.

Last Thursday, the Democratic party-controlled House of Representatives voted by 223-201 to pull most of its troops out of Iraq by April 1 next year.

A furious Bush condemned Congress: ‘‘I don’t think Congress ought to be running the war,” he said. ‘‘I think they ought to be funding the troops.”

Note: Pan Troglodyte is the Scientific Name for Chimp..

The species has been known for it’s stubborn behavior. It remains a curiosity why 20% percent of Americans would still support such a sub species to be their leader. We have noticed a drop in that however as the population becomes aware of the Troglodytes propensity for lying and deception…

We in the scientific field remain adamant that we should clear out all Pan Troglodytes that remain in Crawford Texas and in other places around America. Pan Troglodytes in the wild can be captured by following their constant cries of “nookular” and “mission accomplished” as the little buggers go around deceiving themselves! 😉

Lindsay Graham sounded like he was on a pot of coffee, seven Red Bulls and a couple of packs of cigarettes—while being fluent at the Evelyn Wood talking points course. Jim Webb was not thrilled to be sitting next to him.

Webb: Lindsey’s had a hard month…excuse me friend…

And he got angry when Graham, (McCain’s BFF) tried to put words in the mouths of our soldiers

Webb: Don’t put political words in their mouths…

Sen. Reed: Petraeus Is Ready For Changed Iraq Course

by- Suzie-Q @ 9:14 AM MST
Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) said his impression from a conversation with General David Petraeus was that the leader of U.S. troops in Iraq “seemed very eager to come forward as quickly as possible with a new direction and policy.”

Reed, the co-sponsor of legislation that would require President Bush to withdraw combat troops from Iraq by April of next year, recently made his tenth trip to Iraq and spoke with Petraeus, who is slated to report to Congress in September on the progress of the war.

The senator said, in an interview with C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” show that is expected to air Sunday, that he was surprised that Petraeus went out of his way to say that he might have something to say in August and not wait until September.

Reed argued that the chance of making significant progress in Iraq until September “are very bleak indeed.”

Senate Democrats Vote for War With Iran

That’s right. Senate – Democrats – Voted – For – War – With – Iran!

On Wednesday, the Senate voted 97-0 for an amendment written by Joe Bomb Iran Lieberman, whose position on Iran is identical to Dick Cheney’s.

The amendment repeats the flimsy charges made by the Cheney administration earlier this year that the Iranian government is arming Iraq’s Shia militias with explosively-formed projectile explosives that have killed almost 200 American troops and that Shia Iran is giving a safe haven to Sunni extremist Al-Qaeda (even though AQ is blowing up Iraqi Shias left and right). These are the same charges that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Statt, Peter Pace, distanced himself from, claiming that the evidence did not support the contention that Iran’s government either supplied or was complicit in the supply of these weapons to militias in Iraq. (Pace’s will not be renominated for the position, by the way.)

The amendment states that “the murder of members of the United States Armed Forces by a foreign government or its agents is an intolerable act against the United States,” and demands the government of Iran “take immediate action” to end all forms of support it is providing to Iraqi militias. It also mandates a regular report on Iran’s anti-US activity in Iraq.
