Happy 4th Of July To My American Friends

by Mentarch … 00:49 EDT

Who else but Jimi Hendrix to offer this classic rendition of the Star Spangled Banner? Sometimes, as I am fond of saying, a song says it all …

Happy 4th of July, folks – and may the years to come bring back a healthy Republic and the Constitution for which it stands.

Olbermann: Bush And Cheney Should Resign

by- Suzie-Q @ 8:02 PM MST

In an extended Special Comment tonight, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann called on President Bush and Vice President Cheney to resign. He concludes his commentary with this:

We of this time–and our leaders in Congress, of both parties–must now live up to those standards which echo through our history: Pressure, negotiate, impeach–get you, Mr. Bush, and Mr. Cheney, two men who are now perilous to our Democracy, away from its helm.

For you, Mr. Bush, and for Mr. Cheney, there is a lesser task. You need merely achieve a very low threshold indeed. Display just that iota of patriotism which Richard Nixon showed, on August 9th, 1974.

Resign.

And give us someone–anyone–about whom all of us might yet be able to quote John Wayne, and say, “I didn’t vote for him, but he’s my president, and I hope he does a good job.”

Why was there such surprise, shock and outrage upon the news that President George W. Bush commuted the sentence of I. Lewis Libby?

I actually laughed when I heard the news.

Because.
It.
Was.
Oh so.
Predictable.

And I dare go one step further: such predictability comes from much beyond the current administration and goes much deeper than today’s Washington Beltway culture.

Indeed, it all comes down to “We the People of the United States of America“.

Stephen and Lynne Pitt…

by- Suzie-Q @ 2:45 PM MST

Good Afternoon Justice Bloggers,

I wish I had good news but I don’t. I have bad news.

Stephen Pitt’s wife, Lynne, was in a terrible accident last Thursday.

With Stephen’s and Lynne’s permission, I relay this information to you.

Lynne has a broken neck, punctured lung, and shattered left elbow. Stephen said they feel extremely lucky as few survive a multi-rollover down a forty-foot embankment where none of the airbags deploy. They don’t know much, other than Lynne’s hazy recollection of big semi wheels coming at her and the initial attempt to move out of their way.

I will update you with further news as I hear more from Stephen.

Note:

My thoughts and prayers are with Stephen and Lynne. I wish Lynne a speedy recovery.

Marcy Wheeler @ Firedoglake.com hits the nail on the head by clearly showing the true reason that Bush commuted Libby’s sentence and may in the future pardon him.

It is absolutely and undeniably clear that Bush and Cheney have already implicated themselves by manipulating and obstructing Justice to prevent one of their own from swinging in the rafters and causing the possibility that Libby would out the true culprits behind the CIA Leak Case(or the Lie to go to war in Iraq).

This shows that both Bush and Cheney had a clear hand in orchestrating the CIA Leak in order to favor the intelligence to go to war on Iraq. This shows they CLEARLY LIED to us to take us into War.

This is TREASON of the HIGHEST CALIBER. Outing an Operative working on Loose Nukes for objective gain which did not warrant military action. (I mean Powell and Rumsfeld was in it too)

It was clear manipulation of the the facts that were NOT supported on the Ground in Niger in regards to the Yellowcake. Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld and others now gone from this administration should not think that they have gotten away with their role in this case which has so far not yielded the truth on just “Why did Scooter Lie in Court?”

Sick’em Marcy…growl! ;)

P.S. NANCY PELOSI has shirked her responsibility to the People of the United States by not attempting Impeachment for Bush, Cheney and Alberto Gonzales for his role in the continuing obstruction of Justice.
Shame on you too Nancy Pelosi.

Dear MSM: You Ain’t The Only Game In Town Any More, Honey

Yet none of them are saying what needs to be said — that his act is obstruction of justice, pure and simple.

On September 30, 2003, just after the investigation into the outing of CIA officer Valerie Plame Wilson began, President George Bush said:

“If there’s a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is . . . If the person has violated law, that person will be taken care of.”

We now know exactly what he meant. (And someone needs to make sure the video of Bush saying that gets in the hands of every TV network news producer — as well as every Democratic presidential campaign.)

US considers Indonesian debt-for-nature swap

Anthony @ 20:45 BST

AFP
Published: Tuesday July 3, 2007

Nearly 20 million dollars of Indonesia’s debt to the United States could be re-directed to tropical forestry conservation under a debt-for-nature program, the US embassy said Tuesday.

The US Treasury Department is to provide a 19.6 million dollar provisional allocation to be considered under the program with discussions toward an agreement due to begin in the coming weeks.

“This is good news,” Indonesia’s minister of forestry Malam Sambat Kaban, who met with representatives from the embassy on Tuesday, said in the statement.

Once concluded, Indonesia will have one of the largest programs under the Tropical Forest Conservation Act (TFCA), the embassy said.

Germany agreed to enter a similar program with Indonesia in May to protect three national parks in Sumatra.

Indonesia’s forests are recognised as some of the most biologically diverse in the world.

Greenpeace estimates that Indonesia has lost more than 72 percent of its intact ancient forests and much of the rest is threatened by commercial logging and clearance for palm oil plantations.
