Vail Chairlift Accident Leaves Man Dangling Pantless (PHOTOS)

If you think people laugh at your skiing skills then think again. A man was put into a precarious and undoubtedly embarrassing position while skiing with his child at Vail mountain last Friday.
According to reports:
the chairlift’s fold-down seat was not in the correct lowered-down position – causing the man to partially fall through the resulting gap as he attempted to board the lift.
He was prevented from plummeting to the ground below by his right ski, which became jammed in the ascending lift.

I’ve seen worse.
A motionless black blog far below and a snow cat flattening the snow nearby so a hospital helicopter could land and the snow being blown by the blades.
Nearby a pylon – presumably the skier had lost control of his/her speed, had come off the piste on to the fresh snow and skied bang into a pylon.
I couldn’t tell whether he/she was dead or unconscious, but later that night, having forgotten all about it, I was suddenly overcome with a sickly feeling of a mixture between guilt and remorse which I have only experienced nce before in my life, when I saw on TV the body of a child who’d fallen off a cliff on the south coats of England lying dead in a bloodstained rock pool, and I realized I’d seen a fatality.
This was in Kitzbuhel, Austria, the ski resort with the worst safety record in the Alps.

Of course, I know the pics have a lot of shock value; but, the major overall theme is that he went through a very frightening and dangerous ordeal and survived.
Maybe he can write a book or something and look back on this as a point that changed his life for the better.
Think about how you would feel if this happened to you.
He could have sued THERE pants off!!

The question is, how is it that the operators did not securely lock up the ski lift chair?? This is HUGELY important to do correctly every SINGLE time!! This guy would have plummeted to his death were it not for his ski being caught. This really makes me scared to ever ride a chair lift again…
True that he was extremely lucky and thank goodness his child did not see Dad hurt or worse. Now that is it all over and all is well except perhaps his pride…..this is definitely a LAUGH OUT LOUD moment.

I think this man should get a good lawyer and sue the pants off Vail. It must have been terrifying for him and his child. In addition to being humiliated like that, he has to face the endless aftermath on the web.
Believe me they will settle big time before anything gets to court.

Yes, we need more laughter in the news these days, even though it is at the expense of someone’s pride, and I am sure he must be very embarrassed. I doubt we will ever see this man on a talk/news show, unless his face & voice are disguised! LOL
On a serious note, however, I hope the ski resorts and skiers have learned something from this.

“How was your ski trip in Vail?”

They just got on the chair and are barely off the ground and over a ton of fresh snow. While the Vails folks did mess up bad, he was hardly in danger of death. You can see the lading station is right there.
That’ll teach him not to go “commando” next time he goes skiing! That is if there is a next time!!!!
