Obama’s Grandmother Dies At Age 86

A statement from Barack Obama and Maya Soetoro-Ng on their grandmother’s death:
“It is with great sadness that we announce that our grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has died peacefully after a battle with cancer. She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances. She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and left this world with the knowledge that her impact on all of us was meaningful and enduring. Our debt to her is beyond measure.
“Our family wants to thank all of those who sent flowers, cards, well-wishes, and prayers during this difficult time. It brought our grandmother and us great comfort. Our grandmother was a private woman, and we will respect her wish for a small private ceremony to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to any worthy organization in search of a cure for cancer.”

My thoughts and prayers go out to Obama and his family.
I’m glad that he took time off to see her before she died, even tho’ it meant two days out of his election campaign.
It is, I’m sure, a decision he’ll never regret, whatever happens tomorrow.
On the eve of one’s triumph it usually happens that something is taken from you which you dearly love.
Condolences to the Obama’s!
It was so wonderful that he got to spend time with her. This happened to my husband – his mother waited until he was able to come…she died the day he left, at the age of 96. She made it quite clear, that was what she was doing.
Obama’s grandmother sounds like the same type of person – she obviously knew her own mind…
Condolences of course, to the new First Family! Losing a family member is always hard. We wish you well.
I know that BO’s grandmother is happy on his achievements where ever she is right now. I know this is hard for BO’s family, especially now that Obama is almost there in reaching his dream to be the next president of The United Sates. May God bless his family and may her Grandmother Rest in Peace.
My condolences to BO and his family.
