Washington state Senator introduces resolution exhorting Congress to Impeach Cheney and Bush
by David Swanson
Washington state Senator Eric Oemig has drafted a resolution urging the U.S. Congress to impeach Bush and Cheney and remove them from office. Oemig plans to introduce his resolution (SJM 8016) when the legislative session begins on January 14th. Senator Darlene Fairley, Chair of the committee that will handle the matter, has promised a hearing.
Oemig introduced a different impeachment resolution last year, but was never granted a vote in the full Senate. The State Senate of Vermont did pass an impeachment resolution last year, and 10 other states introduced them. In a number of cases, U.S. Congress Members successfully lobbied state representatives to kill the resolutions. The New Hampshire State legislature is also expected to take up an impeachment resolution in mid-January.
A great many cities, counties, towns, political parties, and organizations have passed resolutions in favor of impeachment: http://www.impeachpac.org/resolutions-list
Washington state has been a hotbed of impeachment activism led by Washington for Impeachment: http://www.washingtonforimpeachment.org Numerous resolutions have been passed in Washington: http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/wa

We still have 11 months to Impeach…
Plenty of time!!
Yep and the sooner the better!
Time is running out to impeach Bush and Cheney.
Speaker Botox will not — I repeat, will not order the Articles of Impeachment. She’s intimately involved in war profiteering (think: Sen. Dianne Feinstein) and she know this will come back to hit her in the ass if she tries to impeach these two war thugs.
But, no one would like to see it more. I hope the good people of San Francisco remove Pelosi too. Either by referendum or in November by electing Cindy Sheehan.
My sources report George Soros is backing Sheehan’s campaign, so she should have ample ca$h to run against Speaker Botox in the fall.
Christopher,
The way I see it Bush and Cheney are pissing off more GOPer businesses by the hour…
I’m sure as the economy keeps hemorrhaging cash without solutions, there will come a point where they will strike a big vein and anger the rest of America…
That point is almost here and so Impeachment is not far behind that!
Here’s a 2008 toast to impeachment. Can’t wait, that’s one resolution I hope is kept.
Although I thought Cindy Sheehan had decided not to run. I hope she does. We definitely need a voice.
I remember Nancy Pelosi in the 70s when I lived in NoCal, she was a firebrand. I guess it again proves: power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
I think that we should call for the impeachment of Pelosi. She is a civil officer and I think you can say she is committing treason.
Article II, Section 4 of the United States Constitution says, “The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
I’m with you nytexan. Botox stands in the way of the actions that are called for by We The People, just like Bu$hco impedes any actions toward truth, justice, and the restoration of Democracy.
Impeachment would be the first step to restoring Democracy in this country! If these thugs go free, in consideration of their High Crimes & Misdemeanors, we may as well say that, We the People, will never Impeach a President, Vice President and/or other Officials of this Government.
The Constitutional Laws of this land must be upheld and Justice prevail!
Captain Kit,
*Cheers*
Not even their “Stimulus” package is going to work..
No matter how many states pass a resolution to impeach, Bush’s “Pandering Pelosi” will save the day.

Hopefully there is time to at least set history straight, but impeachment would be great.
Someone ought to tell Nancy wrinkles are in…eek.
Impeachment is just the beginning.
I am hoping that at some point, the World Court at the Hague will get involved. Although they (BushCo) are guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors, I sincerely believe that are guilty of war crimes against humanity.
Try them … hang them.
There .. problem all solved.
