punditman says @ 10:52 EDT:
Our lives are now on permanent display…
by Joe Crubaugh
If you own a cell phone, The FBI can listen to everything you say, even when your cell phone is turned off.
Take a minute and let the paranoid side of your brain run wild with that…
Imagine it’s late Tuesday night, you toss your cell phone on the nightstand, meet your spouse in bed, and all your intimate actions, discussions, conversations of past sins and future dreams — they’re all performed on a potential open-mic stage in front of the world.

Remember when people actually cared about privacy–at least to the extent that they didn’t want governments and corporations knowing everything about them?
Punditman,
Can the FBI listen to my conversations when I take the battery off the phone and throw it down a revene ?
Nope. Not a chance. LOL*)
As long as they don’t chip ya, you still have privacy…and they know it!
Best thing to do is go low tech and get rid of your gadgets..
Another false perception is that everyone is being watched and catalogued but this too is a big lie.
Between the Navy, the Pentagon, the FBI, the CIA, and Foreign agencies they can catalogue everything we say in electronics but in order to find out what all of us millions of people are doing at a given time is impossible because human beings have to interpret all that information.
How many people do you think they got ?
The salaries alone would bankrupt the Govt.
There’s not enough people in the world to interpret all this data on everyone each and every day!
It’s impossible.
They can catalogue all they want and run histories but this is an overwhelmingly expensive and impossible proposition to interpret everyone at once.
This is just Propaganda Bullshit to keep the Population scared.
All this spying and more security is not the answer to catching the bad guys..
It is however the answer to keeping the population scared and complacent.
Why don’t you wake up peeps ?!!
I’m not giving up my tech toys! They can listen all they want to… it doesn’t scare me!
But, there is this guy who keeps calling me and breathing heavy… Is that you GEF?
LOLMAO
Nope..
I wouldn’t breathe heavy on the phone, I’ll just wake up next to ya for that!
LOL*)
s-q,
There’s not enough manpower in the whole world to “interpret” all that illegal/Unconstitutional and massive data grab.
It’s all propaganda..
I wouldn’t breathe heavy on the phone, I’ll just wake up next to ya for that!
——————-
GEF:
Shouldn’t we get married first? What would my neighbors think?
GEF:
Yes, it’s just another scare tactic.. Keeping the masses scared of their own shadow! Well, I’ve seen my shadow and it doesn’t scare me. LOL
Shh…
xnay on the arriagemay!
LOLMAO*)
Nope, my shadow doesn’t scare me either!
My bad! hehe
Me too – I refuse to get scared by these buffoons. I can say I hate Dick Cheney and I want Bush gone. It’s a free country. I’ll even say it in a phone conversation.
And if they actually tap everyone who hates Darth, they’ll never get anything else done. Face it, Satan has a higher approval rating than fat bald boy.
And Bush? We’re still trying to figure out HOW he got through Harvard Business School. We DO understand how he got through Yale, but HBS might be a bit trickier. Someone got paid off big.
Basheert,

Bwahahahahahahahaha!
*Cheers*
Basheert:
You’re funny!
LOLMAO
GEF, I agree there is not enough manpower to listen in to everyone and everything. All those late night calls between you and Suzie, man…
Seriously, I think that point is rather obvious.
However, it is those they choose to listen to, follow around, put on no-fly lists, etc. That is where the problem begins. What is the criteria? Where is the real oversight? And we know they have lists and lists and lists…of people that have absolutely nothing to do with terrorism (and they know it). I am including many governments in that claim.
Punditman,
I understand what you’re saying but I think it’s mostly about perception.
How the public perceives the Govt as this all seeing all knowing god yet that is not reality.
Just like you perceived that I stay up late at night talking to suzie by what we talked about to make it seem that way!
The truth in all cases is much more down to earth!
Punditman,
As far as the no-fly lists and such, you should know that we have a fair Judicial branch of Govt that is still working and the Lawsuits are flying over this travesty.
90 year old Americans, Little old ladies, and Pregnant Soccer Moms are not Al-Queda and the Govt should fix their stupid mistakes.
I agree with Punditman…they don’t have to have the manpower to listen to everybody. But what if you decide to run for office, or what if your wife’s not-so-trustworthy brother works for the FBI and you go through a nasty divorce, or what if your business is in the way of a preferred government contractor’s success…what if you become one of the few — one of the people they have an interest in listening to, or perhaps destroying? It’s easier than ever now.
On a positive note, it cell phone spying DID allow the feds to put a few mobsters behind bars. Good and bad often go hand in hand…
GEF – I know you don’t stay up late chatting with Suzie. That was just me tapping into your fantasy
I think the incompetence factor is just as apparent as the arrogant factor. The problem is that the so-called War on Terror and the way it is being waged combines these two negatives and breeds unchecked power at the same time. All we have to do is look at the silliness going on at airports.
Hey Joe, where you going with that cell phone in hand? Apparently you can remotely blow things up with them as well. As with all technologies, there are negatives and positives.
Punditman,
Good points all around…
A lot of silliness going on at airports is right..
The govt itself is so paranoid that they breed their own bumbling mistakes!
Technology will never replace a good ole foot moving investigation and the intuition of real people who are good at doing their job and are honest and decent people.
The select few at the top are the ones abusing the technology and/or using it for political gains, to forward agendas and maneuver certain Corporations for maximum profit.
The Greed Factor again is the common element.
As far as you tapping into my fantasy, I believe you were just projecting your own desires…
I wouldn’t need to call, I would just drop in face to face!
