WASHINGTON – Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Friday he has decided to replace the chairman and vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff rather than see contentious renomination hearings before Congress.
Speaking to reporters, and referring to the debate over the war in Iraq, Gates said he had wanted to renominate Marine Gen. Peter Pace as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff but then concluded doing so would create “a confirmation process that would not be in the best interest of the country.”
“I concluded that because Gen. Pace has served as chairman and vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the last six years, the focus of his confirmation process would have been on the past rather than the future,” Gates said.

You have to love the media, I mean what’s more important than what a young girl does with her money that does nothing to help humanity, in any way, shape or form????
What can we learn from these types of stories?
I mean, really! ; (
I wish Paris would grow up and stop behaving like a brat! But, most of all, I am sick of hearing about her! You would think she was someone important but she isn’t! I wish our soldiers would get this much media attention!!
MSNBC should be slammed hard for this act of unprofessional media!
I would like to be a fly on the wall when they switched the videos, like…what were the people shouting about and why were they doing it?
I would have liked to have been a studio engineer and switched it back to Pace! hehe
Oh, GOOD GRIEF!
Btw… Good scoop on this Geezer Rancourt! LOLMAO
