I read your comment on the decline of bees on my bee post. It ca’t be our intensification of farming and cutting down the hedges which is causing it, as bees are declining in the US as well. I don’t buy the cell phone theory ‘cos cell-phones have been around a long time, and I didn’t notice any decline in bees last year. As I said in my post, I enjoyed watching them attracted to the dandelions in my front garden, I mean, yard.
Another theory I’ve heard expounded, is that it’s due to GM crops.
Geezer Power posted a link on the comments to that post to an article on the decline of the bee population in the US in which neonicotinoids, a pesticide, are blamed for the decline of the bee population as neonicotinoids are poisonous to bees.
I’m not an expert on pesticides. Are neo-nicotinoides related to neo-cons, which are poisonous to human beings?
BTW, s-q, I’ve worked out why they were showing old “Daily Show” episodes a week back. The Daily Show appears on cable TV here in the UK the day after they appear in the US. Don’t ask me why.Something to do with which way the earth revolves on its axis.
On Mondays they can’t show the previous day’s show ‘cos there hasn’t been one, the previous day being a Sunday. Son they show a week old show.
I worked this out yesterday evening.
